About

My name is Louis Howe and I’ve been a Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach since 2007, where I began working as the Head S&C coach at Royal Holloway, University of London. Within this role, I provided S&C services to over 80 athletes each academic year, ranging from BUCS university standard to Olympic level. Alongside this role, I also owned a private S&C company that worked with numerous international track and field athletes (predominantly working with horizontal jumpers).

Some of the sports I have worked with have included:

  • Triple jumper: Finalist in the London 2012 Olympic.
  • Middle distance runner: Competed at the London 2012 Olympic.
  • Long distance runner: Rieti 2013 European Junior Champion, also competed at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Zurich 2014 European Athletic Championship.
  • Flat water kayaker: Great Britain under-23, competed at the World Student Games.
  • Rower: Competed at the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games.
  • Triple jumper: British Indoor and England Athletics 2015 Champion, also competed at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
  • Triple jumper: Finalist in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

In 2013 following the completion of my MSc in Sports Rehabilitation, I started working full-time for St Mary’s University, lecturing for their undergraduate and postgraduate S&C degree programmes. I’m now based in Lancaster, working for the University of Cumbria on their Sport Rehabilitation undergraduate degree. Alongside this role, I publish articles for world-leading journals on S&C based topics. I’m also currently enrolling on my PhD, titled “Variability of compensatory movement strategies with ankle dorsiflexion range of motion limitations“.
